About IT Department
The B. Tech Information Technology programme imparts the basics as well as latest knowledge pertaining to the rapidly developing field of computers.
Since its beginning in the year 2007, with an intake of 60 students the Department with the well-knit faculty demonstrating high professionalism helps the graduating engineers to attain excellence in all walks of life. The department has excellent infrastructure facilities with qualified and devoted faculty members having specialization in the areas like Data Mining, Wireless networks, Distributed Computing, Computer Networks, Soft Computing, Network Security, Digital Signal Processing, Big Data Analytics, Image Processing, Cloud Computing, Web Technologies and Mobile Computing.
IT professionals perform a variety of duties that range from designing complex computer networks and information databases, data management, networking, engineering computer hardware, database and software design as well as the management and administration of entire systems. The goal of the Department is thus to cater to all the above needs.
To facilitate students to become engineers who are productive and innovative and make them competent professionals in Information Technology industry by imparting quality education and human values.
To provide graduate programme in order to produce quality Engineers with fundamental knowledge, problem solving skills and social awareness. To offer congenial environment to achieve excellence in teaching-learning process and research.

Engineering Graduates will be able to
1. Engineering knowledge: Apply the knowledge of mathematics, science, engineering fundamentals, and an engineering specialization to the solution of complex engineering problems.
2. Problem analysis: Identify, formulate, review research literature, and analyze complex engineering problems reaching substantiated conclusions using first principles of mathematics, natural sciences, and engineering sciences.
3. Design/development of solutions: Design solutions for complex engineering problems and design system components or processes that meet the specified needs with appropriate consideration for the public health and safety, and the cultural, societal, and environmental considerations.
4. Conduct investigations of complex problems: Use research-based knowledge and research methods including design of experiments, analysis and interpretation of data, and synthesis of the information to provide valid conclusions.
5. Modern tool usage: Create, select, and apply appropriate techniques, resources, and modern engineering and IT tools including prediction and modeling to complex engineering activities with an understanding of the limitations.
6. The engineer and society: Apply reasoning informed by the contextual knowledge to assess societal, health, safety, legal and cultural issues and the consequent responsibilities relevant to the professional engineering practice.
7. Environment and sustainability: Understand the impact of the professional engineering solutions in societal and environmental contexts, and demonstrate the knowledge of, and need for sustainable development.
8. Ethics: Apply ethical principles and commit to professional ethics and responsibilities and norms of the engineering practice.
9. Individual and team work: Function effectively as an individual, and as a member or leader in diverse teams, and in multidisciplinary settings.
10. Communication: Communicate effectively on complex engineering activities with the engineering community and with society at large, such as, being able to comprehend and write effective reports and design documentation, make effective presentations, and give and receive clear instructions.
11. Project management and finance: Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the engineering and management principles and apply these to one’s own work, as a member and leader in a team, to manage projects and in multidisciplinary environments.
12. Life-long learning: Recognize the need for, and have the preparation and ability to engage in independent and life-long learning in the broadest context of technological change.

Faculty Details
The Department of Information Technology functioning under the leadership of Dr. P.D.R. Vijayakumar has a team of highly qualified faculty members whose primary strengths are their ability to view IT broadly, integrating various perspectives and identifying the joint effects of different phenomena. Value Added Courses
The Value Added Course facilitates the students to keep in pace with the latest technologies pertaining to the field of Information Technology. The Value Added Courses aims to improve the employability skills of the students. During the Course more than 50% of the time is spent on practical training and problem solving, to provide the requisite understanding towards application of academic concepts. The courses which are offered at free of cost are selected by students according to their preference.

Department Library
The Department of Information Technology Library strives to be the leader in the fields of information provision and knowledge management for academic excellence. The library focuses on supporting the learning needs of students, faculty members in order to facilitate information and knowledge management in context of the college core business.
Our department library maintains more than 300 books, which is related to students’ curriculum basis as well as general studies. Also our department has Laboratory Manuals, student's project report.
Therefore, in addition to the traditional library services, the Library presents a holistic e-service to its clients, including e-books, e-journals, an institutional repository, customized web pages, knowledge tools, digitized full text local collections, a digital reference service and a Maker Space.
