Graduation day is a special occasion in one’s life as years of hard work pays off with a conferred degree and a heart full of satisfaction. lnfo was thrilled to celebrate its 4th Graduation Day on 16th May 2015 with the world renowned lndustrialist and Academician Dr Sujith Banerji, Executive Director of Warwick Manufacturing Group, University of Warwick, UK. With a mission to uplift the world of education Dr Banerji creates a globally delivered education programs through partnerships with universities and leading manufacturers around the globe. The young graduates were spell bound when he started his speech saying that the worlds is their oyster and that it is their time to make pearls. He said any crisis that is faced by our nation can be resolved only by the untapped talent of millions of people. And he said that getting the degree is the first step for the young graduates in contributing to the nation’s progress. People with skill, talent and education is what the country needs, and its this group that can transform the world to realize our President’s vision of “Make in lndia.” He also told the graduates that they should acknowledge the contribution of their parents, the institute and its faculty members, to their degree and their success. He concluded his convocation address with a customary advice: “lt is better to light one candle than to complain about darkness.” With the Chairman of lnfo Mr P Arumugam, the Directors Mr.C.Gopal, Mr. K.S. Palanisamy, the respected trustee Ms M.M.D. Abhirami, the college Secretary Dr Chitra Manohar, and the Principal Dr N.Kottiswaran, Dr Sujith Banerji honored the university rank holders and the graduates with medals and certificates. The day was a huge success with the presence of hundreds of young graduates and their parents.
Ms. Aruna Thangaraj, who is the CEO of AGT Electronics Ltd., Coimbatore, caught up the minds and thoughts of the students by her very friendly and practical approach and explained the Employer’s expectations to the budding leaders. She explained that it is very much necessary for the young MBA graduates to get updated. She also gave a lot of insight about how to attend an interview, how to prepare for it and the expectations of the interviewer. The program got over with the positive reviews of the students and staff. Mr. S.Subramanium, Assistant Professor delivered the vote of thanks. The students presented a memento to the resource person.
As part of our social responsibility to the student community, the Department of Management Studies is organizing a free TANCET coaching program for the students aspiring for MBA and MCA courses. The coaching commenced on 4th May 2015 and will continue till 8th May 2015. Dr.N.Loganathan is the lead trainer of the program. Seventy persons have registered for the free coaching so far.
The seminar was delivered by one of the most prolific speakers Mr. Vishnu Prasad, FRSA, who is a Fellow of the renowned Royal Society of Arts, London. The speaker narrated many scenarios for explaining the importance of the legal knowledge for business professionals. The whole presentation was based on the simple fact that being a business professional or an entrepreneur it is necessary to have the basic legal knowledge so as not to jump into blunder or controversies while taking a decision. The program was ended by 12.30PM. Mr. S.Subramanium, Assistant Professor delivered the vote of thanks.
Info celebrated World Health Day on 7 April ’15 with a guest lecture on “Healthy Living”. Dr Vivekanandan, a renowned Gastroenterologist and Liver Transplant Surgeon, was the keynote speaker of the day. The talk was predominantly on liver and how vital it is for us to keep it healthy. He addressed the student community with great sincerity by pointing out the reasons and main causes of liver diseases, such as smoking and drinking. He opined that the youth take care of their mobile which costs a few thousand with utmost care, but risk their health by adapting unhealthy lifestyle. He concluded his talk with special insistent on organ donation. Mrs Swathi Rohit, Chairman CII, Young Indians, Coimbatore chapter, who also runs several firms, was the special guest of the day. She started the evening with a very open and pulsating speech on the simple ways to attain healthy living. She insisted on good health but in a humorous way, which was well received by the young audience. Dr Aishwarya of Young Indians Forum was the event coordinator.
The IIP Cell of our institution organized a seminar on “Energy Conservation in Industries” on 21.2.2015. Dr.Chitra Manohar , Secretary & Head IIPC welcomed the gathering and spoke on the role of engineers in bridging the gap between the demand and supply of energy. The session was handled by Mr.Somasundharam, Manager, Plant Engineering, ZF Wind Power Ltd, Coimbatore, which is a Public Company incorporated in the year 2006. Nearly 130 students belonging to various disciplines of engineering attended the seminar. Initially, Mr.Somasundharam shared his past experience at Saint Gobin India Ltd., which is a French multinational corporation and pioneers in manufacturing glasses for houses, commercial glazing, and glasses for interiors. He then addressed the students about the importance of energy conservation in industries. He said, Energy conservation is of great importance to all of us, since we rely on energy for everything we do every single day. Due to the increase in the Demand of energy and deficiency in power generation, day by day the gap between demand and supply of electric energy is widening. He emphasized that, the only viable way to handle this crisis, apart from capacity addition, is the efficient use of available energy, which is possible only by continuously monitoring and controlling the use of electrical energy. He also discussed the scope for energy engineers in the near future. He finally quoted the words of our honorable Prime Minister Mr.Narendra Modi, ” Zero Defect , Zero Effect”, to the future budding engineers.
Officials from primary health care centre of S.S.Kulam gave awareness about the spreading of the virus H1N1 to the students of INFO. Precautions and preventive measures to keep us away from the H1N1 virus were demonstrated during the programme.
A Guest lecture on Campus to Corporate was organized for the third and second year students on 20th of March 2015 here at INFO Institute of Engineering. Mr.D.Ganesan, Human Resources and Admin, L&T Valves, was the resource person. He enlightened and guided the students in various career aspects where the students can aspire and initiate their career. He shared his experience and inspired the students to pursue careers in their core field. The presentation was very effective and the students interacted enthusiastically. It was evident that the programme was very interactive and informative that allayed the fears of students in becoming Industry Ready.
This event aims in introducing AI concepts, techniques & methods involved in Designing an agent program for various applications. This event helped in inculcating the knowledge on core concepts and techniques related to searching, knowledge representation and planning in designing an agent program.
A career in defence forces promises one of the most prestigious and respected positions in the country. Info Institute of Engineering joined hands with Defence Academy and organized a Seminar on “Career Opportunities in Defence” on 31.03.15 for the students interested to join Armed Forces. The resource persons were Lt. Esan, Director – Center for career in uniformed Services, Ex Indian Navy & AVP from Bank, Prof.Anto, Director – Academic Relations and Mr. Ravi Subbu, Director – Student Counseling, Former Consultant & Soft skills trainer from Reliance Communication. The team enlightened the students with the various processes involved in acquiring a career in defence highlighting the challenges one has to encounter to meet all the professional expectations of uniformed services. They also insisted the importance of having a career in Defence for the Engineers and the ample opportunities available in all the Engineering sectors of the Indian Armed Forces. The Seminar was an Eye Opener for the students as they posted many queries which the team answered earnestly.
