The LabVIEW Academy organized a guest lecture on Cyber Physical System (CPS) on 17/07/2014. The session started with a welcome speech by our honorable Secretary Dr.ChitraManohar. The resource person, Mr.M.Rakesh Kumar, Senior Application Engineer, VI Solutions, Bangalore shared his intellectual information about the booming technology, Cyber Physical System (CPS) which is the current innovation in the field of Information Technology. He also described about a new device “My RIO” which was introduced by National Instruments. A live demonstration of wired and wireless programming was done. As CPS is a new revolution in industry, the entire event was a knowledge gaining session for both faculty and students.
Info Institute of Engineering feels much elated, conducting its 3rd Graduation Day on 30th April 2014. Mr. Ravi Sam, Chairman, Confederation of Indian Industries, Tamil Nadu & Managing Director of Adwaith Lakshmi Industries Ltd., was the Chief Guest of the Day. He conferred the degree to the Graduands of Info. He shared his wisdom on Success by saying that “Entrepreneurs always search for change, respond to it and exploit it as an opportunity” and he wished them all to be successful entrepreneurs in future. The ostentatious moment of Info was when the Chief Guest awarded the Entrepreneurs of Info. In the presence of the Chairman, Managing Trustees, Principal, The Secretary Dr. Chitra Manohar welcomed the gathering and administered a pledge for the students. The Principal Dr. V.Palanisamy introduced the University Rank Holders, who were honoured with medals by the Chief Guest of the Day. The event that tagged along was “Entrepreneurial Thought Corner” which focused on “Coimbatore Entrepreneurship and Social responsibility”. The entrepreneurs of Info and the to-be entrepreneurs interacted with the veteran, which is the need of the hour. The session was moderated by the Trustee of the Institution Mr. Kanishka Arumugam. It was an interesting and interactive session. The questions were raised related to the current scenario like attrition rates, affordability, developing customer base and so on. The green entrepreneurs and the to- be entrepreneurs went into raptures as the session proved to be prolific.
Departments of Computer Science and Engineering, Information Technology and centre for research CSE department jointly organized a conference on “National seminar on computing innovations for social and ecological relevance” for 2 days from 16-04-2014 to 17-04-2014.The conference was inaugurated by the chief guest Mr. Senkurichi Vijay Raghavan, Sr. Architect – Technologies, Manufacturing and Logistics – CTS, Chennai; Mr. Senkurichi Vijay Raghavan addressed about technologies of the future such as cloud computing, virtualization. This was followed by paper presentation sessions with key note speech by chair person Dr.Ajit S. Shinto, Nuclear medicine chief nuclear medicine services consultant, KMCH Coimbatore; on “NUCLEAR MEDICINE AND ITS APPLICATIONS”. He also addressed about engineering applications which are useful in medical domain. A Practical session on cloud computing from Zenith computer ltd was also conducted which was beneficial for the staff and participants. Day 2 had technical seminar where papers was presented with a key note speech by chair person as Dr. V.Kumarchinnayan, Professor and head, EEE department, Dr. NGP Institute of Technology; on “RENWABLE ENERGY AND WIND MILL ENERGY”. A project exhibit by students from various institutions was also conducted with chair persons as Dr. P.Uma maheswari, Dr. V.Kumarchinnayan and Dr.B.Surendiran. We received about 130 papers from various colleges and universities in India amongst which 40 papers were shortlisted after review. The selected papers will be published in the listed reputed international journals. We also received around 8 projects amongst which two best projects were awarded. Over all the conference was informative and knowledge gaining to all the community. Since it gave insight various engineering applications which are in use for the society.
Latest Trends In Mechanical Engineering (LTIME’14), a National level conference was conducted by the Department of Mechanical Engineering on 29/03/2014.The conference was a grand success with overwhelming response from various Technical Institutions. Paper selected for presentation included from both Post-Graduate & Under-Graduate students. Topics included investigation on welding parameters, material science, heat exchangers, squeeze casting etc. The conference served as an excellent platform for knowledge sharing for all participants.
The Departments of Information Technology and Computer Science and Engineering conducted a Two Days workshop on “cloud computing on 28.03.2014 and 29.03.2014. About 95 students along with 6 members of faculty attended the workshop. The workshop was conducted in collaboration with Technophilia, Mumbai. Students were encouraged to do mini-projects on cloud and also they described how to create web pages using cloud like Amazon web services,etc.
First National Conference on Advanced Concrete Technologies “CIVILACT 2K14″ organized by the department of Civil Engineering was held on 22.03.2014. Dr. Chitra Manohar – Secrertary of IIE gave the presidential address. She mentioned the growing needs of infrastructure for the ever increasing population and greatly appreciated the efforts taken by the department to put together a succesful conference on Advanced Concrete Technologies. Er. G. Ganesh( Vice – President COCENA) was the chief guest and Er. D. GuruPrasad (Secretary COCENA) was the guest of honour. The chief guest Er. G. Ganesh insisted on the importance of college education for today’s civil engineers. He also talked about the qualities expected from a civil engineer in an organization. Er. D. GuruPrasad talked about the importance of civil engineers in a society and insisted on improving their capablities before completing their studies. Er. Prabhakaran(Past Secretary- COCENA) and Er. Guruvayurappan ( Vice – President – II COCENA) were also present.
The THIRD NATIONAL CONFERENCE ON INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATION SYSTEMS (NCICS 2014) was conducted on 21st & 22nd of March 2014 by the Department of ECE. The inaugural address was delivered by our honourable Chief guest Mrs.Vilasini Prabhu, General manager, Pricol private limited. She delivered a technical and inspirational speech, which triggered the students in the field of automation. She was immensely impressed by the department activities and college infrastructure. Our Eminent Guest focused and guided the students towards the implementation of engineering techniques in present scenario. In addition, she detailed about Electronic System design based automation and highlighted the importance of the fundamentals of electronics and human ethics in her presentation. Finally, she concluded that this conference gives a platform for the students to bring innovative ideas and patterns.
Info institute of Engineering celebrated its 7th college day ‘FRIZZON’ on 15th march 2014.The theme of the event was ‘creating alcohol free neo Indians’. So, realizing that the need of the hour is to exterminate the detrimental effects of alcoholism on the society Info institute devoted its college day celebration to this cause.Highlight of the day was the chief guest, Jothimani, a fourth grader from Madurai who made her father sober by going public about it. She harnessed all the courage, determination and the unsullied affection she had for her father and impelled him to steer clear of his addiction. This tender child’s speech on the horrors of alcohol addiction made the audience acknowledge their responsibility in creating an alcohol free society. Info institute that goes beyond education and creates responsible individuals took this event as an opportunity to beckon the public to buttress its effort in creating an ‘alcohol free India’. Various other events were also conducted. Soul-stirring dance numbers on different themes like patriotism, friendship, peace and Indian history were performed by the students. Sri C Gopal, the chairman of the college delivered the Presidential Address and distributed the prizes to the academic toppers and winners of various events.
Info School of Business is organizing a National Seminar on “Digital and Social Media: Challenges and Opportunities” on 21st and 22nd March 2014.The colloquium created a space for discussion, analysis and exploring strategic alternatives to tackle the emerging challenges in the digital / cyber world and understanding its social, economic and commercial scopes in near future. The organizing committee received 52 papers from academicians, research scholars and students from different parts of the country. Out of the selected 41 papers, 36 were presented at four different technical sessions. Mr. Nithyanandan Ramakrishna, Digital marketing expert and Lead Trainer at Digital Vidya, Bangalore, was the chief guest and key note speaker at the inaugural function. Dr. K.V.Kannan, HoD, Department of Business Administration, Government College, Attur; Dr. N. Loganathan, Director, Mullai Academy, Karur; Dr.M.Premalatha, Professor in Social Work, Sree Nehru Maha Vidyalaya, Coimbatore, and Dr. R. Marjery, Director (Research), KVIMIS, Coimbatore, respectively were the invited guests and chairpersons to four technical sessions.
