The Industry Interface Schedule II for the Final Year Students of Info Institute of Engineering was organized on 20.09.14. Industry Experts from various corporate were present to share their expertise with our students. The event started with an inauguration function where the experts were welcomed and honoured. The Secretary Dr.Chitra Manohar, The Principal In charge, Dr. Sunil Gangolli, Heads of the Departments, Staff and the final year students were present for the conference. The resource person Mr.P.V. Vasantha Kumar-Chief Human Resource Officer, A.V.Thomas Group Companies, Chennai, addressed the students on the topic “Win the war”. His eloquent speech on how to grab opportunities, overcome competencies and utilize resources stirred the gathering. His experience of training 592 professionals was revealed when he shared his knowledge on Interview skills with our students. Followed by that was a speech on “Opportunity-Realize your Dreams” by Mr.T.Arumugam, Factory Head – HR, KoneElevators India Limited, Chennai. The expert shared his personal experiences on his success from quite a number of failures. He spoke on various prospects and his motivating speech triggered the students to post industry related queries, which he clarified earnestly. The afternoon session was taken over by Mr.Rathinavel Rajan, HR-Leader-Chennai Plant, Ingersoll-Rand (India) Limited. His presentation on “Achieving career excellence through SMART” gave insights on how to be self driven and authentic. He also highlighted the importance of mastering basics and the strength of team work. The next session was on “Career Opportunities and Growth in Wireless Industry” by Ms.Kavitha.K, HR Manager, Amphenol Antenna Solutions. She spoke about the innovations in Wireless industries and its utilities. She enlightened our students with few tips on personality devolopment, attitude and behavioral skills. The final session of the day was on “Technical Upgradation and Innovation” by Mr.Ganesh Balasubramanian, Engineering Manager-INDIA, Amphenol Antenna Solutions. He spoke on the recent upgradation in the technical field. His mantra for success was “Innovation makes money”. The session concluded with queries. The program was a grand success as the students were highly motivated and equipped to face the industry.
Info Institute of Engineering made its own mark yet again by conducting 5th International Technical Meet “INFOREA 2K14” on 10th & 11th October for the school students of std 9,10,11&12. Being an event that creates revolution in engineering applications, it also turned out to be the platform for the budding youth to exhibit their talents. Various events such as Dumb charades , Quiz, Who said it, Do you see it, Project Expo, Pencil Sketching, Dance were conducted. Semi technical events were organized by the departments of CSE,IT, Mech, Civil, ECE and EEE. Workshops on Social networks, Personality Development and Blog & Web Designing were conducted to provide an insight into the recent trends of engineering. The event received overwhelmed response from participants with the total registration of 500. The Innate creative & innovative ideas of students were brought out through Project Expo which was the highlight of the day. To add color to the day, various Fun games were also conducted by the members of the English Club like Back busters, Ding Dong, Pick me up, Bulls eye etc.. during the breaks. The winners were honoured with prizes at the end of the day.
Rain Water Harvesting is now one of the most important process that has to be implemented. Water Harvesting Awareness programme is an initiative for the improvement of ground water. Info Institute of Engineering joined hands with SS Kulam Panchayat and organized a rally from Kovilpalayam Panchayat office to spread the cause in and around Kovilpalayam. Around 300 members participated, and it was a successful programme. “If you are aware, you speak with awareness. It flows from the inner being towards others”. It is important to prevent wastage of groundwater by making our green planet know the cause and effect of rain water harvesting. The public were made aware of the importance and the methods to implement it.
The Management of Info Institute of Engineering joined hands with the Inner Wheel Club in India and conducted an awareness programme on Organ Donation on 13.08.14 at 3.30pm. The purpose of the programme was to increase awareness of the need for more organ, eye and tissue donors among the staff members and students. The Resource person of the day was Dr. Sivakumar, Head Department of Critical Care Medicine, KMCH, Coimbatore. The Chief Guest of the day was Dr. Karuna, Trustee- IIE, Chairman IMA Coimbatore. The program was initiated by Rtn. Dr. Chitra Manohar, Secretary, Info Institute of Engineering. She welcomed the gathering and enumerated the importance of the day. Dr. Sivakumar presented the accurate donation messages encouraging donor registration and promoting healthy living and disease prevention to decrease the need for transplantation. Dr. Karuna quoted incidents and scenarios related to organ donation. Rtn. Gunasegharan, Community Service Director – RC Coimbatore, the President and the Secretary of Inner wheel club Ms. Trupti Parikh and Ms. Harshidtha Vagadia and few other Inner Wheel Club members were present during the program. The awareness program gave insights on the ability of transplantation to extend and enhance life.
Guest Lecture on “Construction management” was organized by the Placement Cell of INFO on 06.09.2014. Mr. John, General Manger Rakindo Developers, Pvt Ltd delivered the lecture on Construction management. He focused on how to manage a project as an engineer and the factors involved in a project. He stressed the importance of Civil engineers to be proactive in a project as every project will have uncertainties. The session was very interactive. Before concluding the talk he explained the role of a Civil engineer in our society.
This session is an industry-institute-connect to bring exposure to industrial recruitment process and current scenario at industry. The resource person Mr.Vivek Prasanth .R – IBM – Chennai, addressed more on the skills required by the students to survive in the IT industry and related a lot of examples from his own work experience. He stressed upon various domains which have wide openings for students and also informed them about the value of studying a global certification and completing it.
The Department of Information Technology has organized a seminar on “Search Engine optimization (SEO)”. Mr. V.Ajay, CEO-Superfact was the resource person. More than seventy students participated in the seminar held on 07.08.2014.At the end of Seminar students got an idea about SEO and its application in Real time.
The Department of Information Technology has organized a seminar on “Basics of computer Networking and its features”. Ms.PADMASREE RAO and Ms. A.DIVYA MARTINA MARY from Maznet Solutions were the resource persons. More than hundred students participated in the seminar held on 09.08.2014.As a result it was observed that the students got a knowledge about basic networking concepts like IP addressing, Routing, etc.
Networking Workshop followed by a competition under the banner India’s Biggest Networking Championship 2015 by IIT, Delhi was held on August 22nd and 23rd in our college. The workshop started with all the 120 participants of various colleges assembled in the PG lab of Mechanical Block at 9:00 AM. The workshop was inaugurated with the presence of our secretary Dr.Chitra Manohar and the two trainers from iMedata. Our secretary welcomed the participants and the trainers for the workshop. She spoke on the importance of networking and conveyed her wishes to the participants to win the championship. Session was then handed over to the trainers; they started with the structured syllabus of the workshop. They moved on to the topics starting with the theory session using the electronic presentations. The explanation was based on the real-time examples. Following the practical session in the afternoon, they started with the 1st round of the competition. The 1st round of competition was based on the practical session with a topology to be built by the students in teams. Based on certain criteria the teams were selected for the second round of the competition. The second round of competition was based on the theory questions. The participants need to answer 7 questions. The papers were evaluated and the 4 participants were selected for the final round of competition which is to be held in IIT, Delhi during the month of March 2015. The zonal winners are Nithya Shree.P (4th IT), Pooja S Bhat (3rd CSE), Sowmyalaxmi (3rd CSE), Swaroop Kumar (2nd ECE, Jansons Institute of Engineering).
The 8th Orientation programme for the first year B.E, B.Tech students was held on 6th August,2014. Thiru. K. Gnanasambandan was the motivational speaker of the day. He congratulated the students and parents for choosing the right platform at Info. He listed out the importance of education and the added responsibilities of the students to the society at large. One of the messages he gave the students was the gift of getting good teachers. Knowledge is what everyone should be going after and the persons who impart that to them are to be considered as deities. He concluded his speech by making them realize that they can do great things to the world with the education they get here. Being a successful Tamil orator, he won the hearts of the crowd, with his references to works in Tamil literature and mythology.
The day began with the lighting of the lamp by the Trustees and the Guests. Dr.Chitra Manohar, the Secretary of Info, enumerated the successful path through which the college has traversed and briefed on the image of being a perfect professional. The Chairman Shri. P. Arumugam delivered the presidential address and the Principal in-charge Dr. Sunil Gangolli welcomed the majestic gathering. The day ended with the vote of thanks proposed by Dr. P . Uma Maheshwari, HOD, Dept. of CSE.
