Teachers’ day was celebrated with a difference this year on our campus. Instead of lectures on how noble the teaching profession is and the wonders teachers make, the day was spent in a meaningful way. Faculty members were not appreciated with mere words, but with action – Medical attention was given to them. Basal Health Parameter Checkup was done to all faculty members aged above 34. It was a pleasant surprise for them as this kind of attention on their health was given by the management. The “Health Awareness for Teachers for a Healthy Society” followed the medical checkup. Dr Chitra Manohar, Secretary of Info, welcomed the esteemed gathering. It was mentioned by her that a society’s two important services was teaching and saving lives.Dr S Karuna, introduced the surgeons and doctors , who were there to provide awareness on various health issues. She lauded the teachers for the service they render to the young minds, whom according to her are the pillars of the nation. The reason for the program she said was to reach as many as possible and teachers were the right tool for that. The day ended with the presenting of memento to all faculty members by the trustees and members of the management.
Anna University zone XI BASKETBALL (MEN) tournament was conducted at our campus from 26.09.14 to 27.09.14. The winners were the students of Sri Ramakarishna Engineering College,The Runners up title was won by the students of Info Institute of Engineering and third place was given to the students of Government College of Technology.
The orientation was about an online platform for students that provide the offline mode of learning opportunities online and through an interactive method of sharing and participating process. The orientation was delivered by Mr. Abhilash Mahesh, Business Development Executive of the company. The program was continued for 75 minutes. He demonstrated about the features of the online platform and the various options available for students to explore their talents and also to get access to varied academics contents. As an example, he demonstrated some case examples from some satisfied users of the platform in Coimbatore. The orientation has been successful for creating awareness among the students about the pros and cons of online learning platform and its advantages.
A guest lecture on recent trends of the industry was organized by the Department of Placement and Training on 19.09.2014. The resource person was Mr.Vivek Venkatraman, CEO, Acheron Technologies Pvt. Ltd. He shared his experience of becoming an Entrepreneur at a very young age. He listed out the expectations of the industry and the importance of keeping oneself updated. The three key points that he focused to enhance a career in the Software platform were: Having clarity in Communication, being strong in basics of the interested subjects and knowing the utility of business applications. He gave suggestions to improve technical skills and named few technical books and magazines that would help the students in learning new technologies. His thought provoking speech on building the right attitude at work place was an eye opener for the students facing placements. Finally he described the working culture of his company and solved the queries posted. Mr.James Vineeth, Vice President, LLC and Dr.Chitra Manohar, Secretary Info Institute of Engineering were also present for the Lecture.
A guest lecture on “Media and the Youth Empowerment” was arranged by the Department of Science and Humanities for the first year students on 16 Oct. The Chief Guest Mr.Ilango, Chairman of CII, was the speaker of the day. The speech was to let the young generation understand the importance of media in their lives. The speaker’s important views to the students are acquiring knowledge, setting of goals, having the right attitude and perseverance. The Welcome address was given by Dr.Chitra Manohar, Secretary and the Vote of Thanks was given by Mr.Alagiri Prakash, HOD, Department of Science and Humanities.
An orientation was given to the first and second year students on the various career opportunities in banking sector. Ms. K. Anitha, Assistant Manager (FOC), IFBI, Coimbatore, was the resource person and she was assisted by her associate Mr. J.Sreenivasan, Business Development Executive, IFBI, Coimbatore. Ms. Anitha narrated the current scenario of the public sector banks in India and expansion of banking industry through participation of private sectors. In the contexts of estimated and expected growth of the banking sector, the resource person explored career opportunities for the management graduates. She highlighted the various job and career opportunities in the banking sector and explained the scope and roles of IFBI (Institute of Finance, Banking and Insurance) in building and shaping employability of the management students.
“Career in accounting” was the theme for the orientation program of the day. The resource person was Mr.Anil Khicha, FCA, one of the founder directors of Accopedia, Coimbatore. He is a fellow member of Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) and also a senior partner of M/s Khicha & Prabhu Associates, a chartered accountants’ firm. Mr. Khicha started the session in a very interactive manner and he succeeded to involve all the students in the interaction process. He oriented the participants on various career opportunities in accounting and the benefits which an MBA can aspire in the field. The students enjoyed the entire session.
The National Service Scheme (NSS) of Info Institute of Engineering joined hands with Indian Medical Association (IMA) to conduct a Blood Donation Camp on 01.10.2014 (10 a.m. to 3 p.m) at Info Institute of Engineering. The gift of blood is the gift of life. There is no substitute for human blood. Every two seconds someone needs blood. The objective of the camp is to provide a platform to enable students to donate blood voluntarily, for altruistic reasons and without any monetary reward. A team of 7 members including 1 doctor, 2 nurses and 4 technicians from IMA came to IIE campus for the camp and around 90 units of blood was collected from the students. The students actively participated to show their service for the society. Voluntary Blood Donation Programme is the foundation for safe and quality Blood Transfusion Service as the blood collection from Voluntary non-remunerated blood donors is considered to be the safest. The programme was initiated by Dr. S.Karuna, Secretary, The Indian Medical Association (Coimbatore Branch) and Dr. Chitra Manohar Secretary, Info Institute of Engineering. The programme was organized by Dr. P.D.R. Vijayakumar, NSS Programme Officer, IIE.
The Industry Interface Schedule II for the Final Year Students of Info Institute of Engineering was organized on 20.09.14. Industry Experts from various corporate were present to share their expertise with our students. The event started with an inauguration function where the experts were welcomed and honoured. The Secretary Dr.Chitra Manohar, The Principal In charge, Dr. Sunil Gangolli, Heads of the Departments, Staff and the final year students were present for the conference. The resource person Mr.P.V. Vasantha Kumar-Chief Human Resource Officer, A.V.Thomas Group Companies, Chennai, addressed the students on the topic “Win the war”. His eloquent speech on how to grab opportunities, overcome competencies and utilize resources stirred the gathering. His experience of training 592 professionals was revealed when he shared his knowledge on Interview skills with our students. Followed by that was a speech on “Opportunity-Realize your Dreams” by Mr.T.Arumugam, Factory Head – HR, KoneElevators India Limited, Chennai. The expert shared his personal experiences on his success from quite a number of failures. He spoke on various prospects and his motivating speech triggered the students to post industry related queries, which he clarified earnestly. The afternoon session was taken over by Mr.Rathinavel Rajan, HR-Leader-Chennai Plant, Ingersoll-Rand (India) Limited. His presentation on “Achieving career excellence through SMART” gave insights on how to be self driven and authentic. He also highlighted the importance of mastering basics and the strength of team work. The next session was on “Career Opportunities and Growth in Wireless Industry” by Ms.Kavitha.K, HR Manager, Amphenol Antenna Solutions. She spoke about the innovations in Wireless industries and its utilities. She enlightened our students with few tips on personality devolopment, attitude and behavioral skills. The final session of the day was on “Technical Upgradation and Innovation” by Mr.Ganesh Balasubramanian, Engineering Manager-INDIA, Amphenol Antenna Solutions. He spoke on the recent upgradation in the technical field. His mantra for success was “Innovation makes money”. The session concluded with queries. The program was a grand success as the students were highly motivated and equipped to face the industry.
Info Institute of Engineering made its own mark yet again by conducting 5th International Technical Meet “INFOREA 2K14” on 10th & 11th October for the school students of std 9,10,11&12. Being an event that creates revolution in engineering applications, it also turned out to be the platform for the budding youth to exhibit their talents. Various events such as Dumb charades , Quiz, Who said it, Do you see it, Project Expo, Pencil Sketching, Dance were conducted. Semi technical events were organized by the departments of CSE,IT, Mech, Civil, ECE and EEE. Workshops on Social networks, Personality Development and Blog & Web Designing were conducted to provide an insight into the recent trends of engineering. The event received overwhelmed response from participants with the total registration of 500. The Innate creative & innovative ideas of students were brought out through Project Expo which was the highlight of the day. To add color to the day, various Fun games were also conducted by the members of the English Club like Back busters, Ding Dong, Pick me up, Bulls eye etc.. during the breaks. The winners were honoured with prizes at the end of the day.
