The IIP Cell of our institution organized a seminar on “Energy Conservation in Industries” on 21.2.2015. Dr.Chitra Manohar , Secretary & Head IIPC welcomed the gathering and spoke on the role of engineers in bridging the gap between the demand and supply of energy. The session was handled by Mr.Somasundharam, Manager, Plant Engineering, ZF Wind Power Ltd, Coimbatore, which is a Public Company incorporated in the year 2006. Nearly 130 students belonging to various disciplines of engineering attended the seminar. Initially, Mr.Somasundharam shared his past experience at Saint Gobin India Ltd., which is a French multinational corporation and pioneers in manufacturing glasses for houses, commercial glazing, and glasses for interiors. He then addressed the students about the importance of energy conservation in industries. He said, Energy conservation is of great importance to all of us, since we rely on energy for everything we do every single day. Due to the increase in the Demand of energy and deficiency in power generation, day by day the gap between demand and supply of electric energy is widening. He emphasized that, the only viable way to handle this crisis, apart from capacity addition, is the efficient use of available energy, which is possible only by continuously monitoring and controlling the use of electrical energy. He also discussed the scope for energy engineers in the near future. He finally quoted the words of our honorable Prime Minister Mr.Narendra Modi, ” Zero Defect , Zero Effect”, to the future budding engineers.
Officials from primary health care centre of S.S.Kulam gave awareness about the spreading of the virus H1N1 to the students of INFO. Precautions and preventive measures to keep us away from the H1N1 virus were demonstrated during the programme.
A Guest lecture on Campus to Corporate was organized for the third and second year students on 20th of March 2015 here at INFO Institute of Engineering. Mr.D.Ganesan, Human Resources and Admin, L&T Valves, was the resource person. He enlightened and guided the students in various career aspects where the students can aspire and initiate their career. He shared his experience and inspired the students to pursue careers in their core field. The presentation was very effective and the students interacted enthusiastically. It was evident that the programme was very interactive and informative that allayed the fears of students in becoming Industry Ready.
This event aims in introducing AI concepts, techniques & methods involved in Designing an agent program for various applications. This event helped in inculcating the knowledge on core concepts and techniques related to searching, knowledge representation and planning in designing an agent program.
A career in defence forces promises one of the most prestigious and respected positions in the country. Info Institute of Engineering joined hands with Defence Academy and organized a Seminar on “Career Opportunities in Defence” on 31.03.15 for the students interested to join Armed Forces. The resource persons were Lt. Esan, Director – Center for career in uniformed Services, Ex Indian Navy & AVP from Bank, Prof.Anto, Director – Academic Relations and Mr. Ravi Subbu, Director – Student Counseling, Former Consultant & Soft skills trainer from Reliance Communication. The team enlightened the students with the various processes involved in acquiring a career in defence highlighting the challenges one has to encounter to meet all the professional expectations of uniformed services. They also insisted the importance of having a career in Defence for the Engineers and the ample opportunities available in all the Engineering sectors of the Indian Armed Forces. The Seminar was an Eye Opener for the students as they posted many queries which the team answered earnestly.
The Industry Interface Schedule III for the Students of Info Institute of Engineering was organized on 04.03.15. Industry Experts from various corporates were present to share their expertise with our students. The resource person Mr.Charles Godwin, Strategic HR – Business Partner & Public Speaker, addressed the students and shared his personal experiences on his success from quite a number of failures. He spoke on various prospects and his motivating speech triggered the students to post industry related queries, which he clarified earnestly. Mr.Bharath Mohan, Assistant Manager – HR at Polaris Financial Technology Ltd, spoke on how to grab opportunities, overcome competencies and utilize resources and further clarified doubts and answered queries. Ms. Usha Narayanan, Centre Head, KGISL, IMS Department, gave insights on essential interview skills. The experts addressed various batch of students throughout the day. The program was a grand success as the students were enlightened on how to get equipped to fit industry needs.
The employment in India is really growing in the phase of Entrepreneurship. As a part of it Info Institute of Engineering joining hands with ICTACT, Tamilnadu conducted an Entrepreneurship Awareness Campaign on 19th Feb, 2015. The resource person was Ms.Mano Kumar,Trainer,Freelancer services. She spoke about the various career paths available to the students once they completed their graduation. She stated different planning strategies for the running of a business and listed out the skills needed to become a successful entrepreneur. She also quoted a lot of real time examples and made the session an interactive one. The students found the session very useful and interesting. Dr.Chitra Manohar, Secretary, Dr.S.Kirubakaran, Associate Professor/CSE and Mr.Maruthi Sankar, Assistant Professor/ECE also addressed the students during the programme.
‘FRIZZON 15’ the college day of Info Institute of Engineering was celebrated on 28th Feb 2015. The event of the day was the perfect moment to bring a SMILE on the faces of the students. The day was filled with joy. RJ Krishna, Radio Mirchi, Coimbatore, enthralled the crowd with his prodigious speech. His interactive session with the students and staff members was a refreshing one. Stunning dances were performed by the students with different themes like patriotism, friendship and peace. Shri.P.Arumugam, the Chairman of the college delivered the Presidential address. Cultural and sports competitions were conducted for the students for two days. The students’ participation was overwhelming.1040 number of winners went home with handful of prizes and certificates to rejoice with.
The Department of Computer Applications, Info Institute of Engineering, Coimbatore, Tamilnadu, organized a National Level Conference on “Emerging Gist in Computer Applications” on March 7, 2015. The conference served as a platform for researchers to disseminate their innovations and assimilate new innovations. Nearly 100 papers were received from all over India. The Topics were taken from various fields of Computer Applications. After being reviewed by expert Academicians and industrial tycoons, 17 papers were selected for publishing and presenting. The session I of paper presentation was chaired by Dr. S. Geetha, AP(SG), PSG College of Technology, Coimbatore. The session II of paper presentation was chaired by Dr. P. D. R. Vijayakumar, Head, Department of IT, Info Institute of Engineering, Coimbatore. Both the sessions ended with Queries, suggestions and guidelines by the chairperson for improving their Research work of the scholars.
One day workshop on ‘Business Analysis Fundamentals’ was conducted on February 26, 2015 by Mr. Prasidh Prasad, CEP, Praxis Knowledge Solutions, Bangalore. Role of a business analyst and responsibilities were explained in detail. A real time problem was given to each team to study and suggest solution. Role plays for each stage of solution were conducted and each group’s ideas were shared with other team and members. A certificate of completion was provided to each student at the end of the program.
