National Integration Day was rightly celebrated on 19 November 2014 in the Placement Cell. Twelve students from freshman year participated in the debate, “National Integration: Are We There Yet?” The two teams of six, put their heads together in a heated discussion of unity and brotherhood in our nation. It came to an end with a positive note that though we are not there yet, we are moving fast towards it. Dr Chitra Manohar, Secretary, IIE, was the mediator of the teams. Six students with exemplary speaking skills won the first place trophies and the second place trophies were given to the other six who did put in solid effort.
A Seminar on “INSIGHTS OF IT & OPPORTUNITIES” was organized by the Department of Information Technology for second year and pre-final year students on 30th January 2015.The Resource person was Mr.S.Saravanan, Project Lead, Vaanam Technologies, Coimbatore. He gave Insights on IT and its varied opportunities. He Spoke about the advancements of IT trends in the next 3years.It was a useful seminar for the students to select/study appropriate programming languages which would assist them in placement interviews.
This seminar aims to disseminate knowledge in innovative knowledge in design software and industry oriented training to engineering students in a cost effective manner. Demo on Archicadd and STAAD Pro was given to second year and third year civil engineering students. The Seminar was very interactive and by the end of the event the students got an exposure on drafting and analysis software and its usage in field.
On behalf of ELCOSTA, on 21st January 2015 (Wednesday), a guest lecture was organized on the topic “LEARN ENGINEERING BETTER” to enhance the ideas of ECE and EEE students in the field of Electronics and Communication. The Resource person for the session was Mr. Vignesh Sakthivel, Research Associate, In 22 Labs. He started the session with the brief explanation about VLSI, GSM, Bluetooth and Embedded System which was useful and helped to enrich the knowledge of the students. Also, the students were able to understand future research avenues and developments in the field of electronics. He made clear that the scope for Electronics students is more than any other branch, provided they are exposed to practical training. It was evident that the programme was very interactive and informative that allayed the fears of students of becoming a researcher.
In a quest to educate young engineering students with a wholesome robotic learning, Industry Institute Partnership Cell (IIPC) of our college, organizes a Two day workshop on “Home Automation” in association with RoboSpecies Technologies Pvt Ltd, Noida, to train the students about robot building and programming. Just after the workshop, a Mega Competition (NODAL FINAL ROUNDS) was held. Three teams were selected to participate in Spotech’15 at IIT Delhi in March 2015.
Industry Institute Partnership Cell of our college has organized a Two Days Workshop on “HOME AUTOMATION” in association with RoboSpecies Technologies Pvt Ltd, Noida. Mr.SuffianSuhail, Research Engineer from RoboSpeciesPvt Ltd was the resource person. The workshop was about robot building using Arduino ATMEGA8 processor, DTMF shield, motor shield and IR sensors. The programming was done using Arduino1.0.6 (The open-source Arduino Software (IDE)). Totally 85 students were eagerly participated as 14 teams (6 participants in a team) in the workshop. During the last day of workshop, the Nodal Final Competition was held and it was about to build a line follower robot to reach the target in a minimum time. 3 teams won the competition and selected to participate in SPORTECH ’15 in IIT, Delhi during 3rd, 4th and 5th of March2015.
A Guest Lecture on “Latest Trends in Networking and CISCO Certification Courses” was arranged by the Department of Information Technology for second year and pre-final year students on 23rd January 2015. The Chief Guest, Mr.Shree Vignesh, Executive-Business Development, LIVEWIRE (for live careers),Coimbatore, spoke on the latest Networking Technologies and various CISCO Certification Courses. It was useful for the students to identify the right course.
Daya 2015 - “A special fest for children from orphanages of Coimbatore city” was organised by the students of INFO Institute of Engineering, for the fourth consecutive year. It provides a platform to showcase the talents and abilities of 1000+ children in various cultural and sport events. With the traditional touch of lighting the ceremonial lamp by the Management of INFO Institute of Engineering, the event had its embarkation. Various indoor events like fancy dress, adapt tune, craft works, best manager, poem writing etc and outdoor events like lemon & spoon, potato gathering, shot put, discus throw etc were conducted based on the age group. Meanwhile cultural events and talent show gave a good feast to the audience. Talented winners of each event were awarded with attractive prizes. Children were provided with breakfast, lunch and refreshments. At the joyful ending of DAYA 2015, the students of INFO had their hearts filled with happiness. A Guest Lecture on “Chase your Dreams” was arranged by the Department of Information Technology for second year, pre-final year and final year students on 10th January 2015. The Chief Guest, Mr.S.Subramaniam, Assistant Professor, Department of MBA, Info school of Business, Coimbatore, delivered a motivational talk for the students. It was an interactive session on topics – How to make our dreams come true and successful people who made it come true. The life history of those successful people inspired the students and has given a new light of hope.
A faculty development programme on “Strength of Materials” was conducted by Civil Engineering Department for three days from 16.12.2014 to 18.12.2014. The resource persons were Dr.N.Arunachalam, Dean of Civil Engineering, B.I.T, Dr.V.M.Shanthi, Professor, GCT and Dr.K.Subramanian, Prof & Head of Civil Engineering department, C.I.T. Around 19 participants from in and around Coimbatore attended and the resourceful event ended up in a grand success.
